Oral History Best Practices Workshops 2018

RILA’s Executive Director and Nuestras Raíces Project Director will offer Oral History Best Practices Workshops in 2018

Sign up for this workshop if you wish to collect oral histories for the Hurricane María Oral History Project. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 12:30 to 2:00pm and will be held for six Wednesdays thereafter.

Location: Southside Cultural Center, 393 Broad St. Providence, RI 02907 (tentative)

Day 1: What is Oral History? Recording Equipment Overview.
Day 2: Interviewing Techniques and Questions to Ask.
Day 3: Legal Documents. Practice Interviews.
Day 4: Select a Topic and Find a Narrator.
Day 5: Transcribing and Archiving.
Day 6: Final Project

Cost for six (6) classes is $50. Students with ID pay $25. Sign up and pay here
